We moved to Houston in 2005, and bought '50s 1900 sq ft scrape-off in a good neighborhood. In late 2009 we started planning to build on our lot. We like the neighborhood, and our street. We do not like 99% what is being built around here - the houses are large, emphasize luxury over building substance and energy efficiency. So we decided to try to build an affordable, reasonably sized, LEED-certified house. You can read about our journey on this blog.
