Cherie and Michael Woodward are building an amazing Near-Zero Energy Efficient Home near Houston
Today I want to give a shout out to Cherie and Michael who have been an inspiration to us as they build their fantastic green house near Houston. You can read all about it, and learn much, at their site http://www.woodwardtx.com.
Cherie and Michael have incorporated not only energy efficiency, but also lots of green technology, smart house technology and healthy home features, which are described in some detail. They are using ICF, a technology more advanced than what we are doing, and which will give great results regarding energy efficiency. So please visit their site. Here is a recent photo of the house, which is projected to be complete in March.
In the meantime, I am meeting with our bank next week to see if we can finalize the financial plan. We have agreed to a valuation of our plans - now appraised separately by two experts. The final valuation is between that of the simple comp sales for the same square footage and the LEED premium assigned by the first appraiser. With this number, we now also have a clear understanding of what the bank will lend, and so what we need to do to close the gap. I know I said at the beginning of this year that 2010 is the year we build... but I am pretty confident that 2011 is the year we actually do it!
